Dark Ages Saxon Army
Here are some photos of my 28 mm Saxon army.I had completed painting this army earlier this year, and I've had the photos of it for3 months, but for some reason I never published the article until now. Some of the photos and pieces of the army had been published in earlier articles. The army depicts a Saxon army of Great Britain circa 800 to 1000 A.D..

Front and center across the horde are 8 cavalry figures. The horsemen are a mix of Foundry and Gripping Beast28 mm miniatures.Behind the horsemen are several units of figures based on 20 mm circular bases and grouped intolarger formations of 4 by 4.Directly behind the horsemen are two units of 16 huscarls and thegns. To the left and right and the back of the thegns are 4 units of 16 ceorls. The word ceorl is similar to the modern name Karl of Charles, and a ceorl isan ancient word for someone who was your average fellow. In the back row on the left and the right are two units of 16 geburs. The geburs are armed with bows or javelins. In the back center are 16 various units of flag holders, musicians, and extra ceorls. All in about 132 infantry and 8 cavalry.

Thanks for reading about my 28 mm Saxons.More miniatures and scenery photos are located at the Miniatures section.Hopefully soon there will be a battle of these Saxonsand the evil Vikings who very much dislike each other.
