This page is a tour of the Akai MPC 500 "Music Production Center". Click on photos to see a larger image. The device has sturdy drum pads for making and recording songs and beats to the compact flash memory. The songs are easily transferable to a computer via USB connection or compact card reader.

Unlike toys, this machine can actually sample records, videos, or whatever audio you send in via the inputs. You can also control the unit and pass on MIDI data. Full details, features, manuals are available at Akai MPC Pro site.

Here is the back of the unit with all the professional connectors. From left to right: phones, R and L outputs, R and L inputs, Mic Line level selector button, USB connector, backlight button, power button, AC adapter input, and MIDI out and in.

The unit is only used in a non-smoking household. It has minor scuffs and abrasions, but has seen very light use, and is fully functional.

Here's the top once again. Notice the clean pads and buttons. No sticky fingers here.

Here's the front again. Firmware is the latest version 1.31.

Here is the back with serial numbers. The power supply is included, but not the original. This is a 12V, 1 amp, negative tip unit, quite common.

Here's the back opened up. Batteries are not included. However, you do get the 128 MB internal RAM. It's not original Akai memory, but it works, and just like any computer, memory is memory! The compact flash memory card is the 128 MB that comes with the unit.
