Published from 1976 through 1980 by the Franklin Library, the First Edition Society contracted with leading publishing houses to produce limited first editions of some of the finest books written during that period. Besides being beautiful leather bound books, they are the true first edition, first printings of some very significant works. The editor of this series was John R. Hawkins. The books feature the usual Franklin Library fineries of a full leather cover, gold gilding and gilting, silk moiré endpapers and a matching satin bookmark.
